Another rod off the bench and this one is for sale! This past spring I reached out to Nico Vreugdenhil, the owner of Yamame fly rods in Netherlands about his newly designed Akane 7’ 3wt glass rods. He designed these rods with famed Japanese rod builder Tomo Ijuin. Nico described the rods and the design process to me “We came on this idea during our fishing trip in Japan. It is a kind of mix of mine The Pure parabolic blank and the Hard Para of Tomo. It is a crazy nice blank! Akane means in Japanese the colour of the sunset and autumn.” I had Nico ship out two of these amazing blanks. The blank’s translucent color can only be seen in the sunlight to be fully appreciated. This Akane is finished out with a Lemke slide band seat, shop turned eastern red cedar insert, cigar grip, Kimono silk wraps, and a beautiful Arguello agate. SOLD
